About

Harisha G. B., who has developed a deep and sustained interest in Kannada criticism, was born in Hassan in 1975. After serving in the Department of Kannada Literature at Christ College, he later worked at Cisco, gaining professional experience beyond academia.

He taught Kannada literature and Indian society at the Sheshadripuram Postgraduate Centre for three years, where he actively engaged in teaching and mentoring students. His literary contributions include numerous articles, poems, translations, short stories, radio plays, and critical reviews published across various platforms.

Philosophy remains his central intellectual pursuit, profoundly influencing his literary criticism, creative writing, and interpretative approach to Indian thought and culture. His work reflects a rare synthesis of scholarly rigor, creative expression, and contemporary relevance.

Dr. G.B Harisha has a diverse professional background spanning diplomacy, academia, journalism, and project management.

  • Diplomatic Service (Vietnam): Served as Director and First Secretary at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India, Hanoi (2018–2021).
    • Executed soft power diplomacy by showcasing Indian arts, painting, theatre, dance, and films to the Vietnamese people.
    • Planned and implemented the Indian Cultural Festival series and Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
    • Conducted research on the Champa civilization and the Oc Eo culture to strengthen India-Vietnam cultural ties.
    • Increased SVCC activities significantly, resulting in an annual budget increase from INR 1.75 Crore to INR 3.00 Crore.
  • Academic & Teaching Roles:
    • Tumkur University: Served as Assistant Professor (2010–2011), where he edited 40 books under the ‘Classical Kannada Project’ and established an open-air folk museum.
    • Christ Junior College: Lecturer in Kannada language and literature (2003–2006).
  • Project Management:
    • Project Kanaja: Served as Project Manager (2009–2010) for the Karnataka Knowledge Commission’s Kannada knowledge portal, managing content generation and coordination.
    • Cisco Systems Inc (US Technologies): Worked as a Training Coordinator (2006–2009) managing end-to-end training and knowledge transfer
  • Journalism: Worked as Chief Sub-Editor for Prajavani, a reputed Kannada daily (2014–2015).
